100 posts giveaway...

Well I realized that this is my 100th post and thought I'd celebrate with a giveaway! Still buried in snow after last week, I'm spending lots of time flicking through books and magazines looking for inspiration. On offer are two books and some cool items to help you make notes and mark pages. The first is by a modern quilter who needs little introduction Denyse Schmidt and the second is by the amazing Reiko Washizara. Reiko's book is in Japanese but with pull out instructions and very detailed schematics the patterns are easy to interpret. You just have to convert the measurements from metric into imperial ones if you are more comfortable working in inches rather than centimeters. How do you get your creative juices flowing? Travel? Long walks? Journalling? Wine? Chocolate? Let me know by leaving a comment and please be a follower of the blog. These goodies will be mailed anywhere in the world. I'll draw a winner next Wednesday... Good luck to everyone and thank you for reading!

How do I get my juices flowing? I think mostly going inwards.. Sounds strange but that's just how it is. Quieter I get more creativity flows.. Long walks, music or just staring outside the windows :)

  8. Congratulations! I always enjoy your blog and your quilts. You asked a good question! I get my inspiration by looking at other quilts--mostly old ones and those that I see on blogs. Old quilts are my favorites, especially the scrappy utility quilts made in the southern U.S. in the 1930's to 1970's. Too much detail? Oh well...

  10. I think that my inspiration always starts with quilts and fabrics. (Oh and I don't mind a glass of wine now and again.) I love the internet and all the cool blogs (especially yours) because there are so many great improvisational ideas with free piecing and great fabrics and colors! I do follow patterns too.

  11. Congratulations on the milestone! I draw inspiration from just about anything. Yesterday it was a picture of the inside of a castle in England. Today it was a news story on locking love bridges and the pattern of the bridge had me drawing a design. Just about anything I see can set me to creating. I am a happy follower!

  13. Although I get inspiration everywhere, and am frequently sidetracked playing with stash and scraps, by far the largest contributor to the WIP/UFO piles around here is online inspiration (flickr, blogs, pinterest). Whenever I see a lovely quilt -- or just a fun block or great color combo -- ideas start flowing on how I would play with that design/concept/color. Fabulous giveaway, thanks for the chance!

  14. Inspiration for me for quilts comes from antique quilts in my ever growing collection of books or looking online at museum antique quilt collections. Color combo 's for quilts come from nature or quilts I see on blogs that inspire me to make a pink and green quilt , or red and brown or scrappy!
such a great question one I need to ponder a little more

  20. Congrats on the 100th post. I find that color is a huge inspiration of mine. I see colors someplace and know that i want to make a quilt with those colors. Maybe I see them on a quilt or in a fabric line, maybe in a picture, on a shirt, or just out walking...wherever I then find fabrics that go along with what colors i am thinking and then usually the quilt takes shape from there.
